PICCOLI RICAMI BIANCHI / SMALL WHITE EMBROIDERIES
Piccoli Ricami Bianchi (small white embroideries) constitutes a corpus of works made over fragments of embroidery that the artist received as a gift from Sicilian embroiderers involved in the creation of some participatory projects. The direct participation of the viewer, which is an integral part of the artist’s research, is expressed here through the passing of the baton. This action is made alive by chromatic and pictorial interventions. The fragment of embroidery used as basis is not only a graphic matrix but a deep warp, which connects the artist to the people he met.

Piccoli Ricami Bianchi costituisce un corpus di opere realizzate a partire da frammenti di ricami che l’artista ha ricevuto in dono da ricamatrici siciliane coinvolte nella realizzazione di alcune opere. La partecipazione diretta dello spettatore, spesso parte integrante della ricerca dell’artista, qui si esprime attraverso un “testimone” reso vivo da interventi cromatici e pittorici. Il frammento su cui si è formato il lavoro non è solo una matrice grafica ma un’orditura profonda che connette l’artista alle persone che ha incontrato.
