LINEA D’ACQUA
Linea d’acqua (=water line) is an urban performance that translates the climate emergency into a collective gesture, focusing on the melting of glaciers and the rising sea levels—currently increasing by 3.2 mm per year, with a projected rise of over 30 cm by 2050.
Created with the students of class IV F of the Vittorio Emanuele II Classical High School, the action moved through the city of Palermo like a slow, deliberate procession: fifty meters of blue fabric, carried by walking bodies, traced a moving, symbolic line—a visual sign that questions the urban space and the time we inhabit.
The performance culminated at the Foro Italico, where the fabric was unfurled to physically reveal the possible future rise of sea levels. In this final act, the cloth becomes a boundary and a threshold, a tangible projection of an ongoing transformation.
Linea d’acqua takes the form of a collective rite of awareness and denunciation, where the performative dimension becomes a tool to make the invisible visible, and to affirm—through the body—a shared and urgent concern.

Linea d’acqua è una performance urbana che traduce in gesto collettivo l’urgenza climatica legata allo scioglimento dei ghiacciai e all’innalzamento del livello dei mari, oggi pari a 3,2 mm all’anno, con una proiezione di oltre 30 cm entro il 2050. Realizzata con gli studenti della IV F del Liceo Classico Vittorio Emanuele II, l’azione ha attraversato Palermo come una lenta, consapevole processione: cinquanta metri di telo azzurro, sostenuti da corpi in cammino, hanno tracciato una linea mobile e simbolica, un segno visivo che interroga lo spazio urbano e il tempo che abitiamo.
La performance culmina al Foro Italico, dove il telo viene disteso per mostrare fisicamente il possibile futuro innalzamento delle acque. In questo gesto finale, il tessuto diventa confine e soglia, proiezione tangibile di una trasformazione in atto.
Linea d’acqua si configura come un rito collettivo di consapevolezza e denuncia, in cui la dimensione performativa diventa strumento per rendere visibile l’invisibile e per affermare, attraverso il corpo, un’urgenza che ci riguarda tutti.
