MEMORIE BIANCHE

Memorie Bianche explores the stories of mine workers, starting from the changing room — a shared, everyday space where gestures are repeated and stories circulate from mouth to mouth. The project consists of a video — built around interaws with miners — and a series of metal lockers embedded in a crust of rock salt. Set within a vaulted space, the video and the lockers face one another like two sides of the same memory. The encrusted salt turns these objects into silent relics, concrete traces of an underground life made of toil, solidarity, and shared rituals.
Memorie Bianche does not reconstruct or commemorate; it lets what remains resurface — through voices and things. Traces. Stories. Fragments of time preserved in matter.

Memorie Bianche nasce dal desiderio di raccogliere e restituire le storie dei lavoratori della miniera, prendendo come punto di partenza lo spogliatoio: spazio quotidiano, collettivo, dove i racconti passano di bocca in bocca e i gesti si ripetono ogni giorno. Il progetto si compone di un video — costruito a partire da interviste ai minatori — e di una serie di armadietti metallici immersi in una colata di salgemma. Disposti in uno spazio voltato, gli armadi e le immagini si fronteggiano, come due facce della stessa memoria. Il sale incrostato trasforma gli oggetti in reliquie silenziose, testimonianza concreta di una vita sotterranea fatta di fatica, solidarietà e rituali condivisi.
Memorie Bianche non ricostruisce né commemora, ma lascia affiorare — attraverso le voci e le cose — ciò che resta. Tracce, racconti, frammenti di tempo conservati nella materia.
