AXIS MUNDI PLANETA

This version of AXIS MUNDI is configured as an installation created among the olive trees by connecting seven wooden stairs in a circle. It aims to underline the link between human beings, heaven and earth. In addition to its function in agriculture, the ladder, in is part of many initiatory rites: the rungs are expressly considered as representations of the different skies, that is, of the higher states of being. It is thus that in particular in the Mithraic mysteries the ladder had seven rungs which were related to the seven planets and were formed by the corresponding metals. The ladder, as Guenon writes, is a “vertical bridge” that rises through all the worlds and allows you to walk through the entire hierarchy passing from rung to rung; at the same time, the rungs are the worlds themselves, that is, the different levels or degrees of universal Existence.

Questa versione di AXIS MUNDI è un’installazione realizzata fra gli ulivi con sette scale a pioli disposte in cerchio a formare una piccola architettura contemplativa. Essa vuole sottolineare il legame tra essere umano, cielo e terra. La scala, oltre alla sua funzione in agricoltura fa parte di molti riti iniziatici: i pioli sono espressamente considerati come rappresentazioni dei diversi cieli, cioè degli stati superiori dell’essere. È così che in particolare nei misteri mitriaci la scala aveva sette pioli che erano messi in rapporto con i sette pianeti ed erano formati dai metalli a essi corrispondenti. La scala, come scrive Guenon, è un “ponte verticale” che si eleva attraverso tutti i mondi e permette di percorrerne l’intera gerarchia passando di piolo in piolo; nello stesso tempo, i pioli sono i mondi stessi, cioè i diversi livelli o gradi dell’Esistenza universale.
